Cellulose and Ionic Liquids…. Basically it’s dissolving paper?

Another paper in press (“Shear and Extensional Rheology of Cellulose/Ionic Liquid Solutions”)…… It’s fairly well established that ionic liquids are unusually good at dissolving cellulose, but what is perhaps less well-studied is what you can do with it once it’s in solution. In a new paper, my rather clever collaborators from Bristol and MIT have studied the rheology of solutions of cellulose in ionic liquids – ahead of them doing some fairly fun fiber-spinning…
